This text outlines the origins and history of the Scientific Committee, which was established within the Age-It Research Program to address the population ageing from educational, formative, and learning perspectives. The goal of developing a Pedagogy of ageing – based on an interdisciplinary, care-oriented, and practice-driven approach – guides the work of the research group and it forms the backbone of the present volume.
