      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>The essay discusses the foundational reasons of the pedagogical interest in ageing. It explores the necessary social interest, since pedagogy deals with the processes of human transformation at the micro, meso, and macro levels. But it also seeks to highlight the educational and formative value that ageing holds for the Italian population and for individuals. The essay begins with an analysis of the demographic, social, and cultural context in which Italy finds itself as a Western country, then to reflect on the meaning of an education on ageing, one that we should provide to children, adolescents, young people, and adults. It is both necessary and urgent to build a culture of ageing that we must rethink and anticipate to improve the conditions of care and well-being for future generations worldwide. Predictive factors of well-being include attention to and awareness of educational, formative, and learning processes, which can be enhanced across the entire lifespan.</p>
