      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>This article explores the potential transformation of Residenze Sanitarie Assistenziali (RSA) from mere providers of assistance into multi-service centres that actively promote the ageing process of older adults with reduced autonomy. Drawing upon the World Health Organization’s definition of active ageing, it analyses an intervention model grounded in the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team, the personalisation of life plans and the use of tools such as life story collection and the design of targeted activities. The paper addresses key challenges, including the shortage of qualified personnel and the need to foster greater professional commitment within the sector, while simultaneously highlighting the benefits of a person-centred approach that enhances individuals’ remaining capabilities. It concludes by presenting both the critical aspects and the positive outcomes of the proposed model, emphasising the potential role of RSAs in significantly improving the quality of life of older people and in preventing social isolation.</p>
