      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>One of the distinctive features of Vittorio Gregotti's life in art is the constant and continual intersection between the work – designed or constructed – and theoretical reflection. This book, triggered by the inaugural lecture delivered in the Faculty of Architecture of Florence, hinges on the issues of representation, globalisation and interdisciplinarity. Three issues, selected from among many, through which to focus the muddled current state of affairs without complacency or indulgence. A critical practice aimed at that difficult target, that elusive ergon poieticon, which is perhaps alone capable of establishing architecture as a tangible «fragment of historically defined truth».</p>

        <p>Uno dei tratti distintivi dell'essere in arte di Vittorio Gregotti è il costante e continuo trapassare tra l'opera – progettata o costruita – e la riflessione teorica. La prolusione tenuta nel 2008 alla Facoltà di Architettura di Firenze è divenuta, così, questa 'lezione' incardinata sulle questioni della rappresentazione, della globalizzazione e della interdisciplinarità. Tre temi, tra i molti possibili, attraverso cui traguardare la confusa condizione contemporanea senza compiacimenti o indulgenze. Una prassi critica mirata a quel centro difficile, a quell'ergon poieticon sfuggente che, tuttavia, è forse il solo capace a istituire l'architettura come concreto «frammento di verità storicamente definito».
