This book traces the activities of the Study Centre on Late Mediaeval Civilisation, founded with premises in San Miniato in 2008, illustrating in detail the programmes of the initiatives carried out. The introductory essays by the chairman of the Scientific Committee, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the two most recent Directors delineate the aims and objectives of the institution. Attention is focused in particular on the form of its links with the Italian and international late mediaeval and modern historiography of the last twenty-five years, underscoring its active and valid contribution to the development of such research. Finally, a packed schedule of conventions, seminars, conferences, training courses and other cultural initiatives complete the picture of one of the most renowned and prestigious entities in the sphere of studies on the Middle Ages and the early Modern Age.

Il volume ripercorre, illustrando nel dettaglio i programmi delle iniziative svolte, l'attività del Centro di Studi sulla Civiltà del Tardo Medioevo con sede in San Miniato, dalla sua fondazione al 2008. Alcuni saggi introduttivi del presidente del Comitato scientifico, del presidente del Consiglio di amministrazione e dei due ultimi direttori ricostruiscono scopi e obiettivi dell'Istituzione. Particolare attenzione è prestata alle forme con cui questa si è rapportata alla storiografia tardo medievistica e modernistica sia italiana che internazionale dell'ultimo venticinquennio, evidenziando anche come allo sviluppo di tale ricerca essa abbia attivamente e validamente contribuito. Un ampio prospetto dei convegni, dei seminari, delle conferenze, dei corsi di formazione e delle altre operazioni culturali promosse completano il quadro di una realtà fra le più note e prestigiose nell'ambito degli studi sul Medioevo e sulla prima Età moderna.
