        <p>The research and training works of the XIII Congress of the International Association for Training and Research in Family Education (AIFREF) were guided by the term 'Service'; more specifically, of setting oneself at the service of childhood. Devoting oneself to the service of those pursuing the path towards independence is an aspect that is given great prominence in the modern world. We now find ourselves facing a profound transformation: entering the postmodern age, we realise that the concept of service has a completely different connotation. In order to offer an enhanced service to childhood, we have to be aware of what could be useful. What allows the child to grow up and become free? And, consequently what services do we need to create for children? How relevant, efficient, effective and sustainable are these services, consciously designed and rendered operational? These are some of the issues addressed within the framework of the works of the XIII AIFREF Congress.</p>

        <p>I lavori di ricerca e formazione del XIII Congresso dell'Associazione Internazionale di Formazione e Ricerca in Educazione Familiare (AIFREF) sono stati orientati dal termine 'Servizio'. Si è trattato, nello specifico, di mettersi al servizio della prima infanzia. Consacrarsi al servizio di chi percorre il cammino verso l'autonomia è un aspetto al quale la modernità ha conferito forte rilievo. Oggi ci troviamo di fronte a una trasformazione profonda: entrando nella postmodernità, constatiamo che il concetto di servizio assume tutto un altro significato. Per essere meglio al servizio dell'infanzia, dobbiamo ora conoscere cosa può esserle utile. Cosa permette al bambino di crescere ed emanciparsi? E quindi, quali servizi occorre creare per i bambini? Qual è la rilevanza, efficienza, efficacia e sostenibilità di questi servizi consapevolmente progettati e resi operativi? Questi i temi presi in esame nell'ambito dei lavori del XIII Congresso Aifref.

Le terme «Service» a orienté les travaux de recherche et de formation lors du XIIIème Congrès de l'Association Internationale de Formation et de Recherche en Education Familiale (AIFREF). Il s'agissait, en l'occurrence, de se mettre au service de la petite enfance. L'acte qui consiste à se consacrer au service d'un être qui chemine sur la voie de l'autonomie a pris une consistance et une importance sans cesse croissantes au cours du développement de la modernité. Aujourd'hui, celle-ci connaît une profonde mutation : entrant dans la postmodernité, nous constatons que la notion de service prend un tout autre sens. Pour mieux être au service de l'enfance, il s'agit maintenant de savoir ce qui peut lui être utile. Qu'est-ce qui permet à l'enfant de grandir et de s'émanciper ? Et, dès lors, quels services convient-il de rendre à l'enfance ? Quelles sont la relevance, l'efficience, l'efficacité et la durabilité de ces services délibérément conçus et opérationnalisés ? Ces questions ont fait l'objet d'une mise en examen et ont orienté les travaux du XIIIème Congrès de l'AIFREF.</p>
