      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>These guidelines are conceived with the authorities responsible for official foodstuff control in mind, but they are also a valid tool for operators in the foodstuff sector, HACCP consultants and disinfestation firms. The volume focuses in depth on elements of biology, monitoring and control of the principal arthropods that are detrimental to the food chain and of the synanthropic rodents; it also presents simplified taxonomic keys for entomological recognition and proposes a "sanctions manual", a checklist and thresholds for corrective actions. This original work can therefore be considered a useful starting point and a stimulus for enhancing quality: of the products, of the services and of the monitoring activities.</p>

        <p>Queste Linee Guida sono indirizzate alle Autorità competenti per l'esecuzione dei Controlli Ufficiali sugli Alimenti ma possono rappresentare, altresì, un valido riferimento per gli Operatori del Settore Alimentare, i Consulenti di HACCP, e le Imprese di Disinfestazione. Nell'elaborato vengono approfonditi elementi di biologia, monitoraggio e controllo dei principali Artropodi dannosi alla filiera alimentare e dei Roditori sinantropi; vengono, inoltre, presentate chiavi tassonomiche semplificate per il riconoscimento entomologico e proposti: un 'prontuario sanzioni' , una check list e soglie di azione correttiva. Questo lavoro, originale, può quindi essere considerato un'utile base di partenza e di riflessione anche per il miglioramento della qualità: dei prodotti, dei servizi, del controllo.</p>
