We all feel that we belong to a territory, but not all the interventions produce effects that meet the expectations we reserve for it or reinforce this feeling of belonging. Making interventions is neither simple, nor can be improvised, since planning, administration, development and exploitation of the territory are the result of cultural, economic, historical and environmental factors as well as political orientations, sensitivities and individual interests: an ensemble that evolves through the centuries. The social model is the key element that allows us to understand the evolution of society and its relations with the territory. This book introduces a methodology to analyse this process geared towards intervention and deals with crucial topics that the latter cannot ignore: the factors of identity, the relationship with history, the nation-state and local-central relations, the ruling class.
