        <p>The volume analyses learning and networks in the internationalization of retail. To this end, the text presents a vision summarizing two schools: the gradual approach to studying internationalization proposed by the Uppsala school and the network perspective analysed by industrial marketing theorists.  The two schools represent important lines of study in the field of management, and, albeit connected, it is only recently that attempts have been made to sum them together in the literature. The volume examines the origins, constructs, models and diffusion of the two schools and highlights why it is useful to attempt to bring the two approaches together. The theoretical reflections are set out with reference to the process of retail internationalization. In this connection, a model is proposed that emphasizes relations, whose role in distribution internationalization strategies is beginning to be considered important but has not yet been given systematic analysis in the literature. The volume investigates these theoretical reflections in the empirical context of the textile and clothing sector. As well as providing some general findings on the sector's characteristics, the text presents the results of a process of case analysis. The volume is a useful support for academics, sector managers and students interested in the topics of marketing and international management.</p>

        <p>Il volume analizza apprendimento e reti nell'internazionalizzazione del retail. A tal fine, il testo presenta una visione di sintesi di due scuole, l'approccio graduale allo studio dell'internazionalizzazione proposto dalla scuola di Uppsala e la prospettiva network analizzata dai teorici di marketing industriale. Le due scuole, rappresentano filoni di studio di rilievo nell'ambito del management che, seppur collegate, hanno solo di recente visto un tentativo di sintesi unitario in letteratura. Il volume esamina le origini, i costrutti, i modelli e la diffusione delle due scuole ed evidenzia l'utilità del tentativo di sintesi dei due approcci. Le riflessioni teoriche sono declinate con riferimento al processo di internazionalizzazione del retail. In questo ambito, si propone un modello che enfatizza le relazioni, il cui ruolo nelle strategie di internazionalizzazione della distribuzione viene ad essere considerato rilevante ma ancora non oggetto di una sistematica analisi in letteratura. Il volume approfondisce tali riflessioni teoriche, nel contesto empirico del tessile-abbigliamento. Oltre a fornire alcuni riscontri di carattere generale sulle caratteristiche del comparto, il testo presenta i risultati di un processo di case analysis. Il volume rappresenta un utile supporto per accademici, manager di settore e studenti interessati ai temi del marketing e management internazionale.</p>
