      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>For centuries, the philosophical thought has questioned notions such as "person", "value" and "quality" of life, "rights", "suffering", "life", "death"; but the problems that have arisen in recent decades due to the application of life-prolonging technologies have led to a rethinking of the philosophical and everyday meanings and uses of these notions. This book intends to be a reflection on some aspects of the debate on the moral lawfulness of non-voluntary euthanasia, through a critical discussion of the main philosophical notions used by bioethics.</p>

      <abstract xml:lang="it">
        <p>Il pensiero filosofico si è interrogato per secoli su nozioni come "persona", "valore" e "qualità" della vita, "diritti", "sofferenza", "vita", "morte"; ma i problemi che negli ultimi decenni sono nati con l'applicazione delle tecnologie di prolungamento della vita hanno determinato un ripensamento dei significati e degli usi, filosofici e quotidiani, di questi concetti. Questo libro intende essere una riflessione su alcuni aspetti del dibattito sulla liceità morale dell'eutanasia non volontaria, attraverso una discussione critica delle principali nozioni filosofiche impiegate dalla bioetica.</p>
