The volume is the result of the creation of a database on the companies and their characteristics and illustrates the development path of the Arezzo goldsmith system. This is a case particularly significant for its international prestige and for the use of highly specialised workforce and represents at the same time an interesting typology, as it is an emerging district form born by budding from a large company. The analysis represents a deepening of the districtisation process and a methodological support for further investigations. But it is also a tool for understanding the long-term economic dynamics that have characterised one of the most vital productive areas of Tuscany.
