        <p>Avanti il divorzio is undoubtedly a fundamental work for the history of women and civil rights. Anna Franchi is fighting, together with the socialists, both for freedom of choice and for the right to civil and political vote, which were denied to women. The texts also deal with the struggles for the right to work and for fair wages. Moreover, they present unpublished profiles of personalities who devoted their fight of little hope and much courage to the cause. Anna Franchi was also the first woman who believed in the movement of the Macchiaioli: she wrote the history of the artistic movement, got to know its interpreters and sought for them a market that recognised their value. The friendship with Giovanni Fattori and the correspondence with many painters are relevant: the letters reflect not only the artistic aesthetic of the Macchiaioli, but also their moods, relationships, travels, successes and many sad moments that were confided to Fattori's friend, Anna.</p>

        <p>Avanti il divorzio è indubbiamente un testo di fondamentale riferimento per la storia delle donne e dei diritti civili. Anna Franchi si batte insieme ai socialisti sia per la libertà di scelta che per il diritto al voto civile e politico, negato, ancora una volta, alle donne. I testi presentati rivendicano anche le lotte per il diritto al lavoro ed al giusto salario e presentano profili inediti di personalità che si sono battute, con poche speranze e molto coraggio. Anna Franchi è inoltre stata la prima donna che ha creduto nel movimento macchiaiolo: ne ha scritta la storia, ne ha conosciuti gli interpreti, ha cercato per loro un mercato che ne riconoscesse il valore. Importante l’amicizia con Giovanni Fattori e la corrispondenza con molti pittori: le lettere diventano specchio non soltanto delle loro intenzioni artistiche ma anche degli umori, delle relazioni, dei viaggi, dei successi e dei tanti momenti di tristezza che venivano confidati all’amica Anna.</p>
