      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>This work is a historical-etymological analysis of neologisms and linguistic borrowings from American Spanish, penetrated into the contemporary Italian language. Through an extensive lexicographic inventory, the author attempts to determine if Spanish can be considered the second foreign language that has had the most influence on Italian in the second half of the 20th century. The first chapter -the most important of the volume- analyses six semantic fields: politics, Liberation Theology, music (Andean and Afro-Caribbean), typical drinks, soccer, and drug trafficking. The telenovela lexical unit is also analysed.</p>

        <p>Esta obra es un análisis histórico-etimológico de neologismos y prestamos lingüísticos del español americano, penetrados en la lengua italiana contemporánea. La autora trata de descubrir, mediante un amplio inventario lexicográfico, si el español puede considerarse la segunda lengua extranjera que más influencia ha tenido en el italiano de la segunda mitad del s. XX. En el primer capítulo, el más importante del volumen, se analizan seis campos semánticos: política, Teología de la Liberación, música (andina y afrocaribeña), bebidas típicas, fútbol y narcotráfico. También se analizan la unidad léxica telenovela.
