      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>The relationship between architects and photography is an issue that has rarely been addressed. Furthermore, the volume offers an innovative perspective also for its wide range research: it does not simply analyse Le Corbusier's use of photographs, but it also focuses on the characteristics of the Swiss architect's point of view. Thus we’re able to understand the meaning of photographs of travels and of architectural buildings (also in comparison with the drawings); the relationships with professional photographers; the relations with contemporary photographic culture and with the cinematographic image; the ways of using photography as a tool for showing an artist's work or as an element of qualification of the architectural space.</p>

      <abstract xml:lang="it">
        <p>Il rapporto fra architetti e fotografia è un tema scarsamente affrontato. Il volume, inoltre, costituisce una ricerca innovativa anche per il suo ampio raggio: non si limita a indagare l'uso da parte di Le Corbusier di fotografie, ma approfondisce i caratteri del modo di vedere dell'architetto svizzero. Vengono quindi colti: il significato delle fotografie di viaggio e di opere architettoniche (anche in confronto al disegno); i rapporti con i fotografi professionisti; le relazioni con la cultura fotografica contemporanea e con l'immagine cinematografica; i modi di impiego della fotografia come mezzo dimostrativo della propria opera o come elemento di qualificazione dello spazio architettonico.</p>
