      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>Musica, scienziato!, a work that cannot be reduced to pre-existing models, establishes a new literary genre, the scientifantasia, which, although part of a literary tradition which has included eminent figures such as the acrobatic engineer Gadda and the chemist Levi, is here presented in a totally new physiognomy. The scientist-writer, Narrator of the monologues, becomes a musical storyteller that makes up stories through the languages of his time, and the 'scientific word' ends up "exorcising the evil of history and the weight of existence” in order to soften and redeem them, placing them within the range of knowledge and expression without which, quoting the Shakespearean lines recited at the end of Revealing Ravel, man is "fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils. / The motions of his spirit are dull as night, / and his affections dark as Erebus".

        <p>Musica, scienziato!, opera irriducibile a modelli preesistenti, istituisce un nuovo genere letterario, la scientifantasia, il quale, pur iscritto in una lignée che ha accolto al suo interno eminenti figure quali il funambolico ingegner Gadda e il chimico Levi, si presenta con una fisionomia decisamente inedita. Lo scienziato-scrittore, Voce Narrante dei monologhi, diventa contastorie musicale che affabula con i linguaggi del suo tempo, e la ‘parola scientifica’ finisce per «esorcizzare il male della storia e il peso dell’esistenza fino ad alleggerirli e redimerli, iscrivendoli nell’orizzonte della conoscenza e dell’espressione senza i quali, a volere ricorrere ai versi shakespeariani recitati in chiusura di Revealing Ravel, l’uomo è "adatto a tradimenti, inganni, rapine; / i moti del suo animo sono spenti / come la notte, e i suoi appetiti / sono tenebrosi come l’Erebo"».
