      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>Without claiming to reconstruct the typology and psychology of those who live in solitary persuasion, in the secrecy of the soul, in the belief that God is not of this world, or to fully outline the story of those who walk the streets of the world having as a point of reference a church, a synagogue, a mosque, a temple, this volume arises from a much more modest concern, but no less important. The intent is in fact to react to today's religious illiteracy and offer a first picture of the consistency and displacement of the great religions, understood as wide-spread socio-cultural facts disseminated throughout the world. This work thus aims to act as an orientation compass within the enigmatic context of the world of contemporary religions.</p>

      <abstract xml:lang="it">
        <p>Senza la pretesa di ricostruire la tipologia e la psicologia di quanti vivono nella solitaria persuasione, nelle segretezze dell'anima, la convinzione secondo cui Dio non è di questo mondo, oppure di delineare in toto la vicenda di coloro che camminano sulle strade del mondo avendo come punto di riferimento una chiesa, una sinagoga, una moschea, un tempio, questo volume nasce da una preoccupazione assai più modesta ma non per questo di minore importanza. L'intento è infatti quello di reagire all'odierno analfabetismo religioso e di offrire un primo quadro della consistenza e della dislocazione delle grandi religioni, intese come fatti socioculturali di ampia portata disseminati nel mondo. Il presente lavoro vuole così fungere da bussola orientativa dentro l'enigmatico ambito del mondo delle religioni dei nostri tempi.</p>
