        <p>Narrative Medicine arises from an attempt to fill the gaps in evidence-based medicine, such as consideration for the care and personal aspects of the patient: humanitarian study in medicine, primary care medicine, narratology and the study of the relationship with the patient. The narration of the disease allows to face the patient's problems in a holistic way, also by giving therapeutic and diagnostic indications; it addresses both the patient and the medical staff, the two figures involved, in relation to each other, in the treatment process. The narrative allows the patient not to feel isolated, but at the center of the care facility and is therefore considered on a par with the clinical signs and symptoms of the disease itself. The stories in this book allow sharing the stories told and produce food for thought and insight for doctors who face similar clinical situations.</p>

        <p>La Medicina Narrativa nasce dal tentativo di colmare aree mancanti della medicina basata sull’evidenza, come la considerazione per la cura e gli aspetti personali del malato: alla sua definizione hanno contribuito lo studio umanitario in medicina, la medicina delle cure primarie, la narratologia e lo studio del rapporto con il paziente.
La narrazione della malattia permette di affrontare in modo olistico i problemi del paziente, dando anche indicazioni terapeutiche e diagnostiche; si rivolge sia al paziente sia al personale medico, le due figure, in relazione tra loro, coinvolte nel processo di cura. 
La narrativa permette al paziente di non sentirsi isolato, ma al centro della struttura e viene quindi considerata al pari dei segni e dei sintomi clinici della malattia stessa.
I racconti di questo libro permettono di condividere le storie narrate e produrre spunti di riflessione ed approfondimento per i medici che affrontano situazioni cliniche analoghe o simili.</p>
