      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>Summer of 1968: two young Spaniards arrive in Rome with a letter and a project to export. They are Francisco (Kiko) Argüello and Carmen Hernández. So, fifty years after its foundation, the Neocatechumenal Way begins, and this volume is among the first historiographical researches about it. The overall picture arising from the comparative analysis of archival documents and unpublished texts places the Neocatechumenal Way within the historical events that affected the Church of Rome from the end of the Second Vatican Council to the present today. From the study of a minor reality, the work aims at shedding light on more general questions: from the reception of the Second Vatican Council to the relations between the episcopates; from the publication of the New Dutch Catechism to the organized entrance of laymen and laity in the Church; from the liturgical reform to 'liturgical liberalism'.</p>

      <abstract xml:lang="it">
        <p>Estate 1968: due giovani spagnoli arrivano a Roma con una lettera e un progetto da esportare. Sono Francisco (Kiko) Argüello e Carmen Hernández. Ha ufficialmente inizio il Cammino Neocatecumenale di cui questo volume, a cinquant’anni dalla fondazione, si pone tra le prime ricerche storiografiche. Dall’analisi comparata di documenti d’archivio e di testi inediti, emerge un quadro d’insieme che colloca il Cammino Neocatecumenale all’interno di vicende storiche che interessarono la Chiesa di Roma dalla fine del Concilio Vaticano II ad oggi. Dallo studio di una realtà minore, l’opera intende far luce su questioni più generali: dalla ricezione del Vaticano II ai rapporti tra gli episcopati; dalla pubblicazione del Nuovo Catechismo Olandese all’ingresso del laico e del laicato organizzato nella Chiesa; dalla riforma liturgica al ‘liberalismo liturgico’.</p>
