      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>The work offers an overview of the models and empirical formulations generally utilised for the analysis and reconstruction of the various phases of road accidents. Based on a strict methodology, the phenomena involved in the accident are treated as a branch of physics and engineering, instead of being limited to a manual-type approach or a mere collection of typical accident case studies. The aim is to provide a theoretical basis that enables the models to be applied even in the non-canonical cases that are more frequently the rule in accident reconstruction. A work that is unique of its kind on the Italian publishing scene, it is addressed in particular to professionals working in the legal/insurance sector and road safety technicians.</p>

      <abstract xml:lang="it">
        <p>L'opera offre una panoramica sui modelli e sulle formulazioni empiriche generalmente utilizzati per l'analisi e la ricostruzione delle varie fasi degli incidenti stradali. Con un'impostazione metodologica rigorosa, i fenomeni che intervengono in un sinistro vengono trattati come una branca della fisica e dell'ingegneria, senza limitarsi a un approccio semplicemente manualistico o alla collezione della casistica di incidenti tipo. Lo scopo è quello di fornire una base teorica che consenta l'applicazione dei modelli anche in casi non canonici, che nella ricostruzione degli incidenti sono spesso la norma. Lavoro unico nel suo genere nel panorama editoriale italiano, si indirizza in particolar modo ai professionisti che operano nel settore giudiziario/assicurativo e ai tecnici della sicurezza stradale.
